Our Journey

A Rich History of Excellence

From humble beginnings to a nationally recognised department — tracing our milestones over the years.

Establishment of the Department

The Department of Computer Science was formally established at Federal Polytechnic Bali, Taraba State, with an initial intake of ND students. The department began with basic computing infrastructure and a pioneering team of dedicated lecturers.

2008

2011

First NBTE Full Accreditation

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) granted the department full accreditation, validating the quality of our ND Computer Science programme and affirming our curriculum, staff, and facilities.

Introduction of HND Programme

The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science was introduced, expanding academic pathways for students and enabling deeper specialisation in software development, networking, and database administration.

2014

2018

New Computer Laboratories Commissioned

Three state-of-the-art computer laboratories were officially commissioned, significantly enhancing student capacity for practical computing, networking, and software development exercises.

NACOS Chapter Established & First National Competition Win

The Nigeria Association of Computer Science Students (NACOS) chapter at Federal Polytechnic Bali was formally inaugurated. Our students clinched their first national competition award at the NACOS Zonal Championships.

AI Research Unit & Digital Transformation

The department launched its AI & Machine Learning Research Unit and introduced CBT-based assessments, e-learning platforms, and digital library access — marking a new era of innovation-driven education.
